JAMMU, Jan 16: Former Minister and general secretary, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammed Dillawar Mir today accused the Coalition Government of not showing any seriousness in settling the problems of displaced Pandits from Valley.
Addressing a meeting of Kashmiri migrants from Jagti and other camps and non-camp areas here today he said the coalition has betrayed the displaced Pandits.
Lambasting the Government for its failure in enhancing the monthly cash relief despite the prices touching the sky and the continued dharma launched by relief holders, he said the relief given to migrants was insufficient and their survival was impossible with meager cash assistance. He strongly demanded the enhancement of relief.
Slamming the Government for the hardships being faced by the displaced Pandita, Mir said that the Government should come up with the proper road map for rehabilitation of KPs and avoid delaying tactics in this regard.
The PDP leader said that Pandits are an essential component of composite culture of Kashmir and Government is duty bound to take concrete steps to protect this microscopic minority.
He assured the Pandits that PDP will take up the their issues with the appropriate platforms.
The PDP Minority Cell leaders A K Sidha, Nana Jee Wattal, S K Raina, Raj Kumar Tickoo, Pinto Jee Chanam and Veer Ji also addressed the meeting and highlighted the problems of the displaced Pandits especially of Jagti Township, which faces 18-hour power cut. They said the power curtailment has added to the woes of the inmates of Jagti in general and student community in particular whose exams are drawing near.
They also took the Government to task for delaying implementation of PM’s employment package and its failure to provide accommodations to non-camp migrants.
