JAMMU, Aug 29: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) held a meeting today to discuss the apathy of the Government towards the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill and also the emerging political scenario in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shiban Khaibri and the office bearers who attended included Sundri Lal Koul, Secretary, Sanjay Pandit, Executive Member and Kashmiri Lal Bhat, Chief Patron of the PNBMT.
Chairman Shiban Khaibri while addressing the gathering said that the trust is planning to adopt agitational methods and come on to the streets as the Government seems indifferent towards the demand of Kashmiri Pandits to bring the Temples Bill.
He said that the issue of Temples Bill is languishing for the last more than a decade and yet the Governments of the day have done nothing for the protection and preservation of temples in Kashmir.
Khaibri said that the leaders of all the political parties including the Chief Ministers of the day expressed their complete and un-conditional support for the bill yet, the bill could not be passed.
Shiban Khaibri said, “In view of the changing geo political scenario it has become all the more important to preserve the symbols of KP faith in Kashmir”. Shiban Khaibri exhorted the members to prepare themselves for a long haul to come onto the streets and protest otherwise the bill may never be passed.
Khaibri said that the passage of the bill would be a litmus test of the sincerity of the Government towards the settlement of the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.
Prominent who were present in the meeting were BL Saraf, MK Bambroo, HL Bhat, BL Bhat, BL Zar, Shiban Krishen, MK Bharat, Kuldeep Raina, SK Saraf, Dr Ramesh Bhat, MM Thaploo,Naveen Koul and Bushan Lal Nadimarg.
