Govt rules out regularization of lecturers engaged on academic arrangement basis

JAMMU, Jan 23: Government today ruled out regularization of lecturers engaged on academic arrangement basis.
Replying to the question of BJP MLA Jewan Lal in the Legislative Assembly, Education Minister Altaf Bukhari said, “as of now, there is no policy for regularization of candidates engaged on academic arrangement basis”, adding “the tenure of engagement of these candidates is co-terminus with the academic session”.
He informed that 1309 candidates were engaged as lecturers in Kashmir division on academic arrangement basis for the session 2017 and 638 candidates have been engaged in Jammu division for the current academic session with monthly remuneration of Rs 7000.
Replying to a specific question, he said, “these lecturers have been engaged to meet the dearth of staff. We may consider enhancement of remuneration for those lecturers who are willing to perform in remote parts of the State”.
About the total number of vacant posts of ReT teachers in Jammu and Kashmir divisions, the Education Minister said, “there are 1925 and 607 ReT panels pending in respect of Jammu and Kashmir divisions respectively”, adding “the department has initiated the process of rationalization of schools and consolidation of resources as a result of which the process of finalization of ReT selection panels is pending at various levels in the Education Department”.
