Govt releases honorarium for DDC chiefs, members

JAMMU, June 15: The Rural Development Department (RDD) today released the honorarium of 20 District Development Councils (DDCs) Chairpersons, Vice Chairpersons and Members, which was pending for the last nearly six months.
The DDC Chairpersons were entitled to honorarium of Rs 35,000, Vice Chairpersons Rs 25,000 and Members Rs 15,000 per month.
The order for release of honorarium of 20 Chairpersons, an equal number of Vice Chairpersons and Members has been issued by the Rural Development Department. There are 20 DDCs in J&K and each DDC has 14 members including Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
In his first meeting with the DDCs recently, Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta had assured release of honorarium in favour of the DDC Chairpersons, Vice Chairpersons and Members after they narrated that they have been denied the remunerations for last about six months now.
