JAMMU, Dec 1: In a significant development, the Government Committee for Fixation of Fee Structure of Private Educational Institutions of J&K State has rejected the application for general permission to make 10 percent enhancement in the tuition and other fees.
“A general order regarding increase in fee can not be made not can such increase be allowed unless the grounds by each school are considered,” the four-member committee said and rejected the similar pleas of Joint Committee of Private Schools and Chairman J&K Unaided Private Schools’ Coordination Committee, for permission to increase 10 percent fee over the fee charged during the month of August 2014.
“Each school is to be assessed separately and for this purpose, the committee has to consider the information as the schools may submit on the prescribed Performa,” said an order, issued by the committee, headed by Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain as Chairman and comprising of Shaleen Kabra, Kaneez Fatima and Showkat Ahmad as members.
Observing that case of each school is to be taken up and consider separately as the each institution may have its own grounds for such increase, the committee also advised the schools to expedite filling of the information for considering regulation of their fee structure.
