Govt re-constitutes committee looking into complaints of sexual harassment

JAMMU, Oct 26: The State Government has re-constituted the Complaint Committee under Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and redressal) Act 2013, to register and enquire into the disposal of the complaints, if any, of sexual harassment against women employees of the Civil Secretariat.
The committee, headed by Dilshad Khan, Secretary Culture, shall submit to GAD its report on each complaint received by it regarding sexual harassment against women employees of the Secretariat for consideration of the Government.
The committee shall also submit its quarterly, annual report about the total number of complaints received, enquired by and action taken on the same.
Members  of the committee include; Nitu Gupta, Special Secretary Higher education Department, Nuzhat Shah, SO Industries & Commerce Department, representative of an NGO to be nominated by the Social Welfare Department and any other person co-opted by the chairperson.
The Government has also directed all the Administrative Secretaries to constitute similar committees in their respective departments at the State/Divisional and District level at the case may be.
The constitution/composition of the committee shall be reviewed periodically by the GAD/Administrative Departm-ents to include/exclude the members as a consequence of retirement, transfer etc.
