Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 10: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today accused the Central and State Governments of playing a big joke with displaced Kashmiri Pandits on enhancement of cash relief. In a statement issued here today KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri said that neither State Government was pursuing the case of relief holders vigorously nor the Centre was showing any interest in hiking the relief despite the fact that the relief holders are facing many hardships in view of sky rocketing prices. He warned that displaced Pandits will be forced to come to streets in case the demand was not settled immediately and Government should not test their patience in t his regard. Kashmiri also expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of ancient temple at village Lelhar Kakapora in Pulwama district and another temple at Newha Pulwama. He said no steps have been taken to renovate these temples by the Government and demanded that immediate steps be taken in this regard. He also stressed over passage of Shrines and Temples Bill in the coming session of State Legislature for constitution of Prabandhak Board for management of Hindu Shrines in Valley. Expressing his satisfaction over the steps taken by the Director Education Kashmir and Relief Commissioner Migrants for releasing budget for migrant teachers of Valley after the KPC took up the issue with them he said this will ensure the timely release of salaries of migrant teachers of those schools who were not paid the same for last five months.
