RAJOURI, Nov 25: The students of PG College Rajouri held protest demonstration against Jammu University authorities for change in subject combinations and choices repeatedly.
The protest continued for three hours in front of PG College Rajouri on Friday. The protesting students told that Jammu University has been repeatedly changing subject combinations and choices and playing with the career of students. A large number of students, hail from border areas and they belong to poor families. It has become difficult for them to buy books again and again and the University is not sticking to one policy as the subject choices they opted earlier as per the notifications issued by the University has been changed thrice and students have to prepare again from beginning.
It’s astonishing that when students have prepared 80 % syllabus, University again asked them to change their subjects. This is how the Jammu University is making students suffer repeatedly. The protesting students appealed the Lt Governor, JK UT to intervene into the matter and save the career of students as University don’t have any consistent policy as all was supposed to done before starting the session.
They further said students welcomed NEP 2020 as it has given them umpteen freedom to make choices of subjects as per students’ taste and aptitude. But because of sluggish and casual attitude of the people at the helm of affairs in the University, no homework has been done by the officials as a result every week a new notification is being issued which has badly affected the entire teaching, learning environment in colleges and students have been suffering for no fault of theirs.
They demanded immediate rollback on such senseless notifications to enable the students to make choices as per their aptitude and thus keeping the spirit of NEP alive.
SHO Rajouri Inspector Farid Ch reached the spot and pacified the students and assured that District Administration will take up matter with concerned officials of JU.
