Govt modifies guidelines under PMJAY to facilitate patients

Srinagar, Sept 16: The Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education, Vivik Bhardwaj today modified the time windows under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY) to facilitate the patients in getting the benefits even if the treatment and other procedures witness delay.
Bhardwaj took a review meeting after Excelsior reported that patients are forced to pay from their pocket in case of delay from the hospital authorities in carrying out the treatment within the stipulated time.
In this regard, the pre-authorization initiation after patient registration by Empanelled Health Care Providers (EHPCs) can now be done within 5 days at the Public EHCPs while the Private EHCPs the same can be carried out within 3 days.
Similarly, the Turn Around Time (TAT) for pre-authorization request can now be done within 6 working hours at the Public EHCPs as well as the Private EHCPs.
Concerning the response on pre-authorization panel doctor query by the EHCP, the same can now be done within 5 days at the Public EHCPs, and 3 days at the Private EHCPs.
Further, the claim submission after the actual discharge of patients by the EHCP can now be done within 15 days, while the Private EHCPs can do the same within 30 days. At the same time, the response time on Claims Panel Doctor (CPD) query has been set for 10 days and 20 days respectively for the Public EHCPs as well as the Private EHCPs.
Earlier, it was reported by Excelsior that the patients are forced to pay out of their pockets in case there is a delay from the hospital authorities in carrying out the treatment within the stipulated time.
In the meantime, the Government has also ordered the transfer of Ata-um-Munim Tak, who was posted in the office of Chief Executive Officer, Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY while Santosh Kumar, Under Secretary, has been given the charges.
Tak has been transferred and posted as Personnel Officer in the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, against an available vacancy, while as Kumar, awaiting orders of adjustment in the General Administration Department has been transferred and his services placed at the disposal of Chief Executive Officer, Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY on deputation basis.
