JAMMU, Oct 1: The National Cadet Corps of Government MAM College organized a function in which rich floral tributes were paid to martyr Lt Sushil Khajuria (an aluminous of the college), who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting against militants at Kupwara on 28th September 2011.
The parents and family members of the martyr were also present on the occasion. Guard of honour was presented to the parents of the martyr and also to Brig Rajan Jamwal, Group Cdr NCC Jammu.
On the occasion, an inter-college symposium on the topic “Role of NCC in Nation Building”, was organized. The Jury members were Prof Sunita Sharma and Prof Prakash Antal, both from Department of Economics, University of Jammu, Jammu.
A total of 20 NCC Cadets participated in the symposium and the first prize was bagged by UO Vishakha Rajput of GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu. The second prize was jointly bagged by SUO Parminder Singh of GGM Science College and Cdt .Vishal Sharma of Govt MAM College Jammu. The third prize was bagged by Cdt Hansja Sharma of GCW Parade. The consolation prize was bagged by Pratyuksh Khajuria of Govt. MAM College Jammu.
The Group Cdr Brig. Rajan Jamwal motivated the cadets to join defense forces and highlighted the supreme sacrifice made by Lt Susheel Khajuria who proved not only a good son of his parents but a true son of his mother land.
Earlier, welcome address was presented by Prof Savita Jamwal, ANO. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sangeeta Sudan
The Principal of the college, Dr Romesh Chander appreciated the efforts of the NCC cadets and ANOs’ in organizing such functions which provide an inspiration for other students about the spirit of sacrifice of life in safe guarding our country.
Dr Subash Chander Sharma, Dr Kawaljeet Kour, Dr Sharmishta Sharma, Prof Renu Nanda, Dr Sangeeta Sudan, Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul, Dr Anoop Kumar, Prof Bindu Chib, Prof Sujat Khan, Dr Rajesh Sharma, and Prof Rashu Sharma were also present on the occasion.
