Govt issues order hiking DA

JAMMU, May 31: The State Government today issued an order increasing Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees and pensioners by 6 per cent i.e. from 119 per cent to 125 per cent with effect from January 1, 2016.
The DA installment to the Government employees will be paid through GPF route up to May 2016 and thereafter in cash, an order issued by Commissioner/Secretary, Finance Department Navin K Choudhary, said.
In respect of the Government employees covered under New Pension Scheme, the arrears of GPF from January 1 to May 31, 2016 will be paid in cash in the month of June and the employee’s share at 10 per cent will be deducted at sources and credited to their PRAN numbers along with the matching share by the employees. From June 2016 onwards, the enhanced DA will form part of monthly salary of the employees.
The State pensions will get differential amount on account of increased DA from January 1 to May 31 in cash in the month of June. It will form part of their monthly pension/family pension there onwards, the official order said.
The employees, who are getting pay in pre-revised scales or where new scales of pay are not applicable, will get DA at revised rate of 245 per cent of basic pay from 234 per cent with effect from January 1.
Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu, in his budget speech yesterday, had announced increase in DA of the Government employees and pensioners by 6 per cent.
