Govt is casually treating Pandits’ issues: ADKF

JAMMU, Feb 1: A meeting of the All Displaced Kashmiri Forum (ADKF) was held under the chairman of D N Kissu at Durga Nagar here today which expressed serious concern that the Government is not persuading the rehabilitation process of displaced Pandits seriously.
It said the progress on it is at snail’s pace and the policy is not clear yet. Forum appealed the Government that for settling Pandits at a single place discussions should be started with all prominent organizations of the community.
It alleged that forcible occupation and encroachment of immovable property of Pandits continues unabated and Government has failed to restore the same.
It demanded strict action against illegal occupants who in connivance with the revenue authorities have resorted to false entries in records and change the topography of the occupied property.
It said the Temples and Shrines Bill is lying in cold store for a pretty long time appealed the Government for passing of an ordinance immediately in this regard.
It said Pandits are totally barred from the benefits of programs sponsored by the Government and they are not included in PM’s slogan of “Sab ka Saath Sab ka Vikas”. To further annihilate the community and keep them away permanently of all the benefits Pandits are not allowed to vote freely since the voting process has deliberately been made cumbersome for the past 30 years, it added.
It said revised APL ration cards were issued to the displaced families but the ration was denied even on cash payment. The Forum demanded that displaced Pandits be given ration at par with consumers in Kashmir.
Besides, the chairman of the Forum its chief advisor, Prof GL Koul president, PL Sudeshi, president Women Wing, Phoola Koul general secretary, PN Raina, C L Zutshi, ML Koul and PL Radon also spoke in the meeting.
