NEW DELHI, Dec 26: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that  Government of India is very much conscious of the fact that road connectivity is the only means of transport in Nagaland and therefore every help will be provided to expand  road network in the State. This is also vital for the economy of the region, he observed.
Dr Jitendra Singh was responding to a demand for assistance in construction of Phase-II road from Chuchuyimlang to Yali via Salulemang, Longra Yangpi at an estimated cost of Rs.38 crore. The demand was placed before him by the Nagaland Minister for National Highways and Mechanical Engineering, Nuklutoshi when he called on him to convey merry Christmas and New Year wishes on his behalf and on behalf of the Nagaland State Government in the Union Capital here today.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, he is aware that the road from Chuchuyimlang to Yali via Salulemang, Longra Yangpi connects three districts of Nagaland State, that is, Longland District, Mon District and Tuensang District. The importance of this road can, therefore, by no means be underestimated, he added.
Construction of new roads and extension of the road network is a boon for the people of remote far flung areas particularly in a State like Nagaland where other means of travel like Railway and Air are not adequately available.
Speaking in response to the representation made by the Nagaland State Government for setting up of a modern workshop-cum-training institute at Dimapur in order to train the unemployed youth with vocational skills, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is particularly concerned about improving employment avenues for the youth living in peripheral and insurgency hit States of North East and therefore this demand will also be sympathetically considered.
Dr Jitendra Singh also referred to rain water harvesting and recharging of the ground water for assuring round the year availability of water in addition to ecological and environmental sustenance.
