Govt forms PMC for restoration of Mughal Gardens

JAMMU, Oct 8: For the restoration of Mughal Gardens in Srinagar, Government today constituted a Project Monitoring Committee (PMC) for guiding and facilitating the process, permissions, inter-departmental co-ordination and works for the protection, preservation, promotion and development of Shalimar and Nishat Bagh in terms of the MoU with M/s Jindal Steel Works Foundation.
The PMC, headed by Commissioner/Secretary, Department of Floriculture, Parks and Gardens, shall facilitate smooth and timely functioning of the project and facilitate inter-departmental and intra-governmental co-ordination, approvals from the local and statutory bodies, and help with all necessary support for approvals from the administration.
A representative of the Department of Culture (not below the rank of Additional Secretary); Ashwani Saxena, CEO, JSW Foundation; Sandeep Gokhale, Project Management Expert; Director Archives, Archeology and Museums, J&K and Prof Mohammad Yousuf Ganai, HoD History, University of Kashmir are Members of the committee, which shall review the Initial Assessment reports as well as Conservation Plans (DPR) to set priorities, timelines and sequence of tasks which will identify as well as establish a methodology for the implementation.
Besides, the PMC shall oversee and monitor the works to be carried out on the project, according to the standards and methodologies established for the Project and presented in the reports.
