Govt forms committee for implementation of new Criminal Laws

JAMMU, Mar 16: For the successful implementation of new Criminal Laws in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, the Union Territory Administration has constituted a UT Level Steering Committee.
Headed by the Chief Secretary, J&K, the committee shall formulate a time bound roadmap for successful implementation of the three new laws viz Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshaya Abhiniyam (BSA) 2023, in the Union Territory of J&K, well before the date of enforcement, which has been notified as Ist of July 2024.
Principal Secretary, Home; DG J&K Police or his representative not below the rank of ADGP, DGP (Prisons), J&K; Director General of Prosecution, J&K; Secretary, Department of Law; Addl Secretary, Home; Judicial Officer to be nominated by the Department of Law and Director Forensic Science Laboratory, J&K, are Members of the committee.
