PHE workers protest at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Oct 3: Jal Shakti/PHE Employees and Worker Association held a strong protest at PHE Complex Udhampur under the Chairmanship of Som Nath. District president and senior Trade Union leader Jammu Province.
While addressing the gathering, Som Nath strongly criticized the attitude of popular Govt led by Omar Adbullah. He also flayed LG’s administration for ignoring issues of daily rated workers. He said the daily wagers had high hopes from the NC Government for the resolution of their issues but newly Govt ignored their issues. He said the Govt constituted the committee for giving report, frame regularization policy and other genuine demands of the daily wagers. But this all was just a drama and an attempt to befool the daily wagers, he alleged.
Som Nath asked the `so called’ Govt Committee and the UT Government to release 70 months pending wages of the workers as it has nothing to do with the committee’s verdict.
Training guns at the newly elected MLAs, specially from Jammu region, the Trade Union leader said they are serious only in own demands and issues like increasing their own salaries and other allowances etc. They hardly bother about the miseries of over 60,000 daily wagers and their neglect by the Government or the public issues. The daily wagers have lost hope on them and they feel that these MLAs will not raise their issues even in the upcoming Assembly session starting from October 13, 2025.
The Association appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to honour his promise made with the daily wagers and their leaders before Assembly elections or face their wrath.
They again raised demand of regularization of daily rated workers, CP/ITI/Land case workers having completed 7 years of service as per SRO-64, release of pending wagers of the workers of nearly 70 months, enhancement of wages as per Minimum Wages Act, filling up of vacant posts and clear all the pending SRO-43 cases.
Senior members- Vijay Sharma, Jagdish Magotra, Dinesh Kesar, Sham Lal, Vinod Kumar, Karan Singh, Javed and Mohan Singh were also present and spoke on the occasion.
