JAMMU, June 25: To boost export from Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory Government today constituted Apex Level and District Level Export Promotion Committees besides designating Commissioner Secretary, Indus-tries & Commerce Department as Export Commissioner, J&K.
The 12-Member Apex Level Export Committee, headed by Export Commissioner (Comm-issioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department) with Managing Director, Jammu Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), shall coordinate with the district administration in each district of the UT to promote the district as an export hub after analyzing the export potential.
It shall also coordinate with all the departments of UT Government and Central Government to resolve issues related to exports besides assisting t the UT Government in formulation/implementation of Export Policy/Strategy.
It shall conduct outreach programmes with exporters on FTAs/WTO/TFA/Logistics/TBT/SPS/Trade Remedy, Anti-Dumping, counter-vailing and safeguard measures, assist Export Promotion Councils in other States/UTs in planning and execution of buyer-seller meets and trade exhibitions, quarterly review export performance of various sectors and recommend industry specific measures, review key infrastructure projects from export point of view to improve logistics, organize regular meetings and public yearly export performance report of the UT.
Eight-member District Export Promotion Committee in each district shall be headed by the respective District Development Commissioner with General Manager, DIC as the Member Secretary.
The committee shall benchmark baseline export performance of the district current situation and identify potential export products from the district. It shall create District Level Export Action Plan, create sub-groups for each identified potential export product by involving the stakeholders, identify the bottlenecks for exports of potential products and identify training and development needs of the district industries.
It shall act as one point facilitator for export promotion at district level and report progress to Apex Level Export Promotion Committee besides updating online DEPC Progress Monitoring Portal.
