JAMMU, Nov 8: Various Sikh organizations including Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Akali Dal (Amritsar), Sikh Students Organisation, Sikh Welfare Front and others have alleged that State and Central Governments have failed to provide justice to the members of Sikh community.
In a joint meeting of the representatives of various Sikh bodies, the speakers alleged that community has been denied justice in the State. The major demands of the Sikh community remained unattended since long. While paying tributes to the members killed during anti-Sikh riots in 1984 in Jammu region and Chattisinghpora carnage victims, they pointed out that Government has failed to punish the guilty and hold independent probe. Unfortunately not even a single FIR has been registered in this connection.
The Government has also miserably failed to do justice with the Sikh community in the matter of employment, settlement of refugee issues and provision of minority status to Sikh community. The speakers also opposed the conduct of DGPC polls on January 15 and claimed that during this period there will be harsh winters in Kashmir and majority of the community members move to Jammu or parts of Punjab.
Prominent among those present included Mohinder Singh, Harjinder Singh Raina, Surinder Singh, Surjeet Singh, Jaspal Singh Mangal, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Manjit Singh and others.
