JAMMU, Apr 8: A meeting of General Category People’s Front (GCPF) was held here today which was chaired by Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, Front president.
Front members in the meeting discussed issues of socio-economic and political nature concerning poor and backward people of general categories.
They expressed concern over the failure of the Government to end caste-based reservation and discrimination perpetuated through Government policies.
Prof. Sanson said that due to biased discriminatory treatment, general category people have a feeling of neglect, marginalization and deprivation.
“The voters of some villages of Marh constituency had been debarred of their right to contest since 1950 as their constituency remained reserved till date due to wrong reservation policy,” he said adding: “The people are no longer in a mood to bear such step motherly treatment.”
The Front president further said that verdict of Supreme Court has been reversed to appease a section of society. “Government of J&K recently breached 50 per cent limit and extended reservation above 50 per cent,” he claimed adding: “All verdicts of Apex Court of the country be implemented without ifs and buts to make India a civilized nation.”
Som Nath Sharma, general secretary of the Front, V.K Sharma and Deepak Khajuria both vice-presidents and Raj Kumar Banathia, chairman also spoke on the occasion.
