JAMMU, July 18: J&K Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader and former Minister, Manjit Singh today demanded developmental activities in villages being inhabited by Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste in Parmandal Block of Samba district.
The demand was made by him during his tour to the block and he has sought immediate intervention of the Lt Governor, G C Murmu in this regard.
During a tour to the villages of the block, Manjit Singh and Saleem Alam another leader of the party were shocked to see the under-development in the villages where the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste population lives.
“There is no connectivity nor have they been provided clean drinking water. If some areas have tap water supplies that too have not scheduled time,” said Manjit Singh,.
The former Minister addressed the Panchayat members including Panch and Sarpanches of the Parmandal Block also.
These Panchayat members complained that they were neglected by the previous Government and no developmental work has been done in their areas compelling them (Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste population) to live primitive lives, said Manjit Singh quoting the concerns of the Panchayat members.
The JKAP senior leader said that in absence of tap water supplies, the people of this block drink water from the pond and other water bodies.
“There are apprehensions of water borne diseases in Parmandal. Hence, the Government should immediately come forward to help these nomads,” said Manjit Singh.
He said that the Tribal Affairs Department was created for the welfare of the Scheduled Tribes in Jammu and Kashmir, but the Department has failed.
“There is no development on the ground. The people are living the worst life with no support from the authorities,” said former Minister. During his interaction with the Panchayat members, the former Minister has assured that he will project their demands before the Government for their early mitigation.
