Govt to equip cooperative assets with latest technological innovations: Zahoor

JAMMU, Nov 14: Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad underscored the need for reviving and revitalization of marketing societies and sale outlets of Cooperative Department in the State.
The Minister was speaking at a function after flagging off 64rd Cooperative Week being celebrated by the Cooperative Department in collaboration with J&K Cooperative Union Limited and Indian Farmer Fertilizer Corporation Limited at Cooperative Office Complex Jammu.
This year’s theme of Cooperative Week is “empowering people through digitalization of Cooperatives”which is being observed from November 14 to 20.
The Minister said that the main objective of celebrating Cooperative Week is to increase public awareness and motivate more and more people to join cooperative sector at grass root level to take cooperative movement forward.
He stressed for revival of cooperative movement in the State and asked the concerned officers to work with utmost zeal and dedication so that the movement reach its destination in a true spirit.
The Minister said that cooperative sector has huge potential and asked the field and development agencies to make collective efforts to revive the movement. He added that hard work, honesty and sincerity are basic values which needs to be adopted for smooth functioning of cooperative organizations. He called for organizing of awareness camps at Halqa levels in the State to educate general masses about the benefits being given by the business units of the Cooperative.
The Minister also asked for demarcation of all assets of Cooperative Department in the State. He asked them that there should be no encroachment on Cooperative assets and also instructed them to formulate proposals for setting up of new business units and submit the same to the concerned quarters for further appropriate action.
Secretary, Cooperative Bashir Ahmad Bhat in his speech urged upon the functionaries to evolve better work culture by putting in their sincere efforts to give fillip to this movement of the people.
Earlier, Registrar Cooperative J&K Peerzada H U Shah highlighted the importance of celebration of the Cooperative Week, role of cooperative societies and the achievements registered by the department. He said the Department is contemplating to modernize the Cooperative Schools with all high-tech facilities.
Later, Additional Registrar Cooperative Department presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
Among others, Vice Chairman, Kissan Board and President Cooperative Movement, Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director, JKFED, Deputy Registrar, besides senior officers from Cooperative, Agro, Housing Corporation, IFFCO, Tehsil Marketing Societies and Apex Bodies were present on the occasion.
