Govt employees get Accidental Insurance cover

JAMMU, Nov 29: Government of Jammu and Kashmir today ordered renewal of Group Personal Accidental Insurance Policy for its employees, including the employees of PSUs/Autonomous Bodies, Local Bodies, Universities, Daily Rated Workers, Consolidated/Contractual/Contingent Paid Workers/Adhoc employees and SPOs.
The policy with M/s Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, commencing from midnight 2nd of December 2021 to Ist of December 2022, shall cover an aggregate of more than 3.50 lakh employees of the J&K Government.
The sum assured under this policy shall be Rs 10 lakhs per employees against payment of a yearly premium of Rs 346, which shall be deducted from their salaries/wages of December 2021 on compulsory basis.
However, wherever due to any administrative or financial problem, the DDO could not deduct the premium of his employee(s) from the salary of the month of December 2021, he shall immediately deposit/remit the prescribed premium against the proper head of Account in the concerned Treasury through challan after collecting the premium from left out employees to bring them under the insurance coverage.
“It shall be the primary responsibility of the concerned DDOI not to leave any employee without deduction of prescribed premium for coverage of the Accidental Insurance policy,” reads the Government order in this regard, issued today by Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner (Addl Chief Secretary), Finance Department.
