JAMMU, Nov 16: Three persons including a peon posted at Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Office Drabshalla were killed, while two others got seriously injured, when the Wagon-R car they were traveling in, plunged into deep gorge near Kandni area of Drabshalla in district Kishtwar this evening.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AP-9605 was on its way to Drabshalla from Kandni, when the driver failed to negotiate sharp curve due to darkness and the vehicle landed into deep gorge near Kandni area of Drabshalla in district Kishtwar, resulting into on the spot death of three persons and serious injuries to two others.
After getting information, police team, army personnel, Red Cross volunteers and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation and retrieved the bodies of the dead persons, who have been identified as peon of ZEO Office Drabshalla Shadi Lal (52), son of Naib Chand, Kewal Krishan (37), son of Nath Ram and Satish Kumar (38), son of Roop Lal, all residents of Kandni.
The two injured identified as Jugal Kishore (36), son of Ved Lal and Bihari Lal (34), son of Diwan Chand, both residents of Kandni were rushed to Emergency Hospital Thathri and after first aid they were later referred to District Hospital (DH) Doda for advanced treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to mortuary of Emergency Hospital Thathri and after conducting autopsy tomorrow, they will be handed over to family members for last rites.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Kishtwar police station and investigation started.
