Govt discriminating against Katra-Reasi: Dr Jitendra

REASI, Mar 18: Accusing the Coalition Government of neglecting the areas not represented by ruling party MLAs, BJP candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that Katra-Reasi area is also suffering from discrimination on this account.
Addressing a series of election meetings and road-shows beginning from the vicinity of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) University across Panthal, Poni and right upto Bhamla in addition to two huge public rallies in Katra and Reasi towns, Dr Jitendra Singh said Katra is not only an international destination of religious tourism but has also emerged as an important trade and business center.
Referring to Reasi, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is an irony that while Salal Hydro Electric Project supplies power to surrounding areas, the Reasi town has to put up with long power cuts. He also referred to poor maintenance of Katra-Dumel and Katra- Reasi roads.
If voted to Parliament, Dr Jitendra Singh said he would strive for an exclusive quota in SMVD University for domicile students, increase in honorarium of VDCs and PSOs and a new water supply scheme for the region.
Ashok Koul, BJP State general secretary (Org), while speaking on the occasion described Dr Singh as a highly competent person, a writer and a Diabetologist of national fame whose presence in the Lok Sabha will enrich the quality of parliamentary discussion at the national level.
MLA Baldev Raj while welcoming Dr Singh to Reasi constituency reiterated his commitment to BJP and to the people of Katra-Reasi.
Senior BJP leader Kabla Singh, Col (Retd) Uttam Singh, party prabhari for district Reasi, Som Raj Khajuria, State Morcha president Satish Sharma, District President Ajay Nanda, Sheel Mangotra, Katra Mandal president Ajay Baru, Reasi Mandal president Chaman Bhagat and several others were also present.
