Govt directs for closure of official accounts with other than J&K Bank

JAMMU, Jan 27: Reiterating that the official accounts should be opened with J&K Bank only, the Finance Department has directed all the officials, including DDOs of the Government, Corporations, PSUs and other Development Authorities to report the compliance in this regard by the end of this month.
The official accounts opened banks other than J&K Bank shall be closed forthwith and the balances shall be transferred to accounts in J&K Bank by or before 31-01-2020, reads a circular in this regard, issued by Arun Kumar, Financial Commissioner, Finance Department.
Directing that the concerned will report compliance to Finance Department through their respective Administrative Departments, the Circular also warns stern disciplinary action in case of deviation of the instructions.
As per the circular, it has come to the notice of the Finance Department that despite standing instructions regarding opening of official accounts by the officers/officials, including DDOs, Corporations, PSUs and other Developmental authorities with the J&K Bank only, there are instance of officials accounts having opened in banks other than JKB in deviation of the instructions,
