Govt determined to weed out drug menace: Lal Singh

SRINAGAR, Oct 10: Minister for Health and Medical and Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh today said the Government is determined to weed out drug menace from the society.
The Minister, while responding to the issue raised by Member Legislative Council, Vikramaditya Singh, said strict instructions have already been passed to police and other departments to root-out the sources of drug menace. The member had raised the issue of drug menace, drug trafficking and the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
Meanwhile, several other legislators raised various issues of public interest during Zero Hour.
Dr Bashir Ahmed Shah Veeri called for regularization and early release of wages of daily wagers and casual laborers engaged in different departments.
Mohammad Khursheed Alam highlighted the issue of illegal encroachment at Malkha Graveyard and its vicinities. He also demanded protection wall (Kalai) around the Hariparbat Mountain.
Firdous Tak pitched for starting work on power projects which were approved for the development in the Chenab valley. He said the commissioning of the projects will bring down unemployment in the region.
Naresh Kumar Gupta demanded adequate security for ex-legislators and other political workers especially camping in far-flung areas.
Vibodh Gupta demanded formulation of cadre based system for Kashmir Police Service (KPS) officers.
Surinder Mohan Ambardar demanded release of pending subsidy for saffron growers of Pampore area.
Saif-ud-Din Bhat demanded for early completion of Sukhnag and Watterhal Arizal Power Projects. He also called for the upgradation Primary Health Centres.
Zaffar Iqbal Manhas demanded 5 per cent reservation of Pahari Speaking people.
Ali Mohammad Dar demanded early completion of Wethpora Soiteng Bridge on river Jhelum.
Surinder Choudhary called for reservation of people residing near LoC and International Boarder.
Romesh Arora raised the issue of encroachment in Bemina Housing Colony, Srinagar.
Qaiser Jamshed Lone raised the issue of discrimination with political workers and unnecessary transfers of officials in the district Kupwara.
Sham Lal Bhagat demanded compensation for the farmers, whose vegetables and crops were damaged due to the heavy rains in Chenab valley.
Ghulam Nabi Monga sought early completion of Jati Bridge Baramulla.
Dr. Shehnaz Ganai demanded empanelment of ‘unapproved’ newspapers.
Yasir Reshi condemned Udhampur attack in which one truck driver was injured.
Jugal Kishore demanded earlier completion of Bumyal- Katra 8 km road stretch.
