JAMMU, June 8: The members of SC/ST/OBC communities showed their deep concern and anguish against the alleged anti-SC/ST/OBCs attitude of the J&K and Central Government.
Addressing a press conference Joint Action Committee of of Reserved Categories (JACRC) alleged that such is the venomous attitude of LG and his machinery that even after more than 7 days of the death of Rajni Bala teacher in militant attack, no ex-gratia relief to the next of the kin have been extended to the deceased and the LG has vehemently ignored the family of the deceased. The BJP too, has done nothing except their `so called’ big leaders playing ugly politics on the day of cremation using BJP SC leaders as pawns.
They further said that none of the promises made by BJP with SC/ST/OBCs have been fulfilled in last more than seven years of the struggle of SC/ST/OBCs in J&K. It was informed that SC/ST/OBCs of J&K, in last more than seven years, have met almost all the past CMs, Governors, LGs, Advisors and Administrative Secretaries of JK Government, requesting them to implement the constitutional provisions meant for SC/ST/OBCs in J&K in letter and spirit but nothing was done in this regard. All the recruitment agencies and administrative machinery is maintaining anti SC/ST/OBCs line. Merely giving political reservation to STs shall not emancipate reserved categories in J&K and all the illegally carved categories have been given benefits over and above the constitutionally carved categories.
They alleged that issue of reservation in promotions remained unsolved in spite of all legal and constitutional backings, SC/ST Atrocities Act remained unimplemented on ground, Mandal Commission report remained unimplemented in spite of false promises, there is a strong attempt to dilute ST status in J&K, no whereabouts of SC Component Plans, an attempt to snatch state lands from SC/OBCs after abrogation of Article 370, slow and less disbursement of SC/ST scholarships and so on are few glaring rights of SC/ST/OBCs which are being denied to them by the ruling dispensations.
Senior members Prof GL Thapa (Working president of JKRCEA), Sham Bassan, president Dalit Chetna Manch; Mohinder Bhagat general secretary of JKRCEA, Kali Dass, Sunita Bangotra, Kewal Krishan Fotra, Adbul Majeed Malik and others spoke on the occasion.
