Govt continues to neglect displaced Pandits: ADKUF

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 22: A meeting of the All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) was held under the Chairmanship DN Kissu here today. At the outset Forum expressed deep concern at the spurt of militancy and killing of innocents on flimsy issues to further harass minority community.
Forum reiterated its demand that the Government should start discussions on rehabilitation policy with all organizations of displaced community for its settlement at a single place. More delay in rehabilitating Pandits is making the issue more critical.
It said the forcible encroachment and illegal sale of immovable property of Pandits continues unabated by land mafia with the connivance of revenue authorities. Land owners have to run from pillar to post for redressal of grievances due to the inaction by the Government and rampant corruption, it added.
The Forum demanded strict action to be taken against illegal occupants who have resorted to change the topography of the occupied property and tampering the revenue records to hoodwink the law enforcing agencies and the property owners.
It said some Government agencies and politicians are defaming Pandits for not participating actively in elections without having knowledge of bottlenecks created deliberately in voting process. More than 40% eligible voters have not been issued Voter ID cards, polling booths are located at faraway places, names are excluded from voter lists even after filling M Forms, the families are split and spread throughout country and globe. The demand for creating Assembly and Parliamentary constitutions in exile have fallen on deaf ears the result is that the community has become a neglected lot deprived of every Government welfare schemes and programs and were excluded from PMs ‘Sab ka Vikass Sab Ka Vishwass’ program.
Forum appealed Lt Governor for issuing an ordinance passing the Temples and Shrines Bill a long pending demand of the displaced community.
It alleged ration against APL ration cards has been denied even against payment since 2018. It also supported dharna at Jagti and demanded fulfillment of demands.
Besides the chairman of the Forum its Chief Advisor, Prof. GL Koul, president PL Sudeshi, president Women Wing, Phoola Koul general secretary, PN Raina, CL Zutshi ML Koul and PL Razdan also spoke in the meeting.
