Govt constitutes committee for optimum utilization of Evacuee Property

JAMMU, Nov 23: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari today constituted a six member advisory committee to give suggestions on productive utilization of evacuees’ property including land and   infrastructure.
The committee will be headed by Director EDI, J&K, Dr. M.I. Parray with Director Finance, Relief and Rehabilitation Department, Shagufta Qazi, Director Horticulture (member J&K Waqf Board), G.H. Shah, Public Private Partnership Expert, Jailendra Kashyap, Custodian Jammu/ Kashmir and President Pilgrim Leisure Tour Operative Federation, Nasir Shah as its members.
The committee will advice the Evacuees’ Property Department for commercial exploitation of the available vacant land of the department.
It will also make recommendations on matters regarding optimum utilization of the assets (land and buildings) of the Evacuees Property Department and creation of valuable assets and projects on the vacant land sites. The committee will also assess financial viability of these projects.
The committee in its functioning will be assisted by Custodian General, J&K. The recommendations so drafted will be advisory in nature and will be submitted to the Government within a period of two months.
The Government envisions putting to use vacant and unengaged property with the objectives of protecting, maintaining the assets while simultaneously deriving commercial and social benefits thereof.
Elaborating the objectives, the Minister said, “the move will aid in generation of employment and revenue besides putting the assets to productive use”.
