BANDIPORA, Apr 25: Reiterating the Government’s commitment to fulfil the promises made to the people, the Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone urged the officers to work with dedication and address grievances of people in a speedy manner.
Mr. Lone was addressing a public gathering in Hajin Town Hall, after taking a review of developmental activities in the area.
The Speaker said that Government is aware of people’s problems and ongoing developmental projects would be completed and new projects would be taken in hand. He said that the present coalition Government’s efforts to implement Right to Information Act and Public Services Guarantee Act have made administration accountable. He urged the Sarpanchs and Panchs to fulfil their responsibilities and guide the people so that their everyday problems are resolved.
Mr. Lone further said that Government has resolved to make J&K a prosperous state for which massive development plans are being implemented in all the three regions of the State, adding that health institutions are coming up at Rs. 18 crore in Hajin block, while under PMGSY work is apace on Hajin, Ajas and Gundi Preng Bakshibal roads at Rs. 5.80 crore and renovation work on Sumbal-Bandipora is being taken up at Rs. 3 crore. The road would be blacktopped by this June.
Earlier, in a high level meeting of district officers, Mr. Lone was informed that 99.46 percent of district plan outlay was expended under various sectors in the district. It was also given out that 276 Km road length was macadamized while three bridges were constructed. Under PHE 11 new villages were provided safe drinking water facility, while 5 middle schools were upgraded.
Later, Speaker distributed cheques to the tune of Rs. 63 lakhs among 210 beneficiaries for construction of houses under Integrated Housing Slum Development Scheme. He also distributed cheques of Rs. 12 lakhs among 24 beneficiaries under IAY. The cheques were provided by Fisheries Department.
Mr. Lone also monitored the draw of lots process for selection of two destitute females who would be provided milch cows worth Rs. 70,000.
