Exercising the powers conferred upon it by sub-section (3) of the section 43 of the Police Act, Samvat, 1983, the Government amended the Rules 172-B of the JKP Rules 1960 to insert Rule 172-C that earmarked horizontal reservation to the extent of 15% of the available vacancies in favour of SPOs and 4% of the available vacancies in favour of VHGs at the level of Constable in direct recruitment.
The quota so reserved shall not be carried forward to the subsequent year, in case eligible candidates are not available, ordered the Government.
“Provided that notwithstanding anything contained in clause (c) of sub-rule (1) of rule 176, the upper age limit for direct recruitment as Constable shall be 40 years in case of SPOs and VHGs having minimum 3 years of engagement,” the Government further ordered.
Pertinently, Government is already providing reservation to the ex-Agniveers and the SPOs in the direct recruitment for the post of Constable in direct recruitment.
