Govt allocates work to Counsels representing J&K UT at SC, NGT; other courts

SRINAGAR, Oct 12: The J&K Government has notified the allocation of work to Advocate-on-Record, Standing Counsel (SC) and Additional Standing Counsel (ASC) representing Union Territory of J&K in the Supreme Court of India, National Green Tribunal and High Court of Delhi, and other Courts/Tribunals at New Delhi.
In this regard, the Supreme Court Section of the Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs said that after the appointment of Shailesh Madyal Advocate–on-Record to represent UT of J&K in the Supreme Court, the Standing Counsel/Additional Standing Counsel (s) shall file SLPTs and all other pleadings and conduct litigation in the Supreme Court as per the given distribution of work through and under the overall supervision of Shailesh Madyal Advocate on Record.
It has been given out that the Standing Counsel/Additional Standing Counsel (s) shall ensure handing over of one set of files to Shailesh Madyal Advocate on Record, in respect of the cases pertaining to the departments allocated to them.
Further, it has been directed that the Shailesh Madyal Advocate on Record shall file Vakalatnama in the Supreme Court in all matters/cases of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and keep track of all cases assigned to the Additional Standing Counsels for proper and better management of litigation work.
He, as per the Law Department, shall also receive all notice (s) /order(s) /correspondence(s) from the Supreme Court on behalf of Union Territory of J&K.
In this regard, the sanction has been accorded to the distribution of work amongst Advocate-on-Record, Standing Counsel, and Additional Standing Counsel (s) representing Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the Supreme Court of India and other Courts/Tribunals at New Delhi with immediate effect.
As per the work distribution, Shailesh Madyal Advocate-on-Record, UT Counsel before the Supreme Court of India/ National Green Tribunal and also Delhi High Court in respect of cases pertaining to the Departments which include Finance, Jal Shakti, Agriculture Production, Power Development Department, Transport Department, Labour and Employment and Housing and Urban Development.
Similarly, Parth Awasthi, Standing Counsel, UT Counsel before the Supreme Court of India/ National Green Tribunal and also Delhi High Court will be representing cases pertaining to the Home Department, School Education Department, PWD (R&B) Department, Horticulture Department, Department of Culture, Department of Tribal Affairs, Information Department, Higher Education Department, Election, Department, CM’s/ Governors Secretariat, Department of Skill Development, Planning Development and Monitoring Department.
Further, Rushab Aggarwal, Standing Counsel, UT Counsel before the Supreme Court of India/ National Green Tribunal and also Delhi High Court in respect of cases pertaining to the Revenue Department, General Administration Department, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and Constitutional Matters, Social Welfare Department, Rural Development Department, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Health and Medical Education Department.
