Govt accords sanction to contractual appointment of docs, paramedics

JAMMU, Mar 28: Government today accorded sanction to contractual appointment of those faculty members as well as paramedical and nursing staff of Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar and doctors as well as paramedical and nursing staff of Health Services Departments of both provinces, who have retired on superannuation from these institutions/departments with effect from 31-03-2018.
According to the order, contractual appointment will be for a period of one year with effect from April 1, 2020 or till further orders, whichever is earlier while emoluments will last salary minus pension and commuted portion of pension. Casual leave to the contractual appointees will be admissible as is to Government employees.
“However, those of the faculty members and paramedical & nursing staff who have retired from Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar and have subsequently been engaged on academic arrangement basis in new Government Medical Colleges of Anantnag, Baramulla, Doda, Kathua and Rajouri, shall not be eligible for such contractual appointment.
The order stated that contractual appointment of those faculty members and paramedical & nursing staff of Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar and doctors (Medical Officers, Consultants and Senior Consultants) as well as paramedical and nursing staff in the Health Services Department of both the provinces upto 31-03-2021, who are likely to retire on superannuation from these institutions/departments within the next six months with effect from 31-03-2020, they will be appointed for a period upto 31-03-2021 beyond the due date of retirement or till further orders by the Government, whichever is earlier.
“The emoluments of these contractual employees will be last salary drawn minus pension and commuted portion of pension and casual leave as admissible to regular Government employees,” the order read and also added that the orders of contractual appointments shall be issued by Principals of GMCs Jammu and Srinagar and Directors of Health Services Department, Jammu/Kashmir.
As per the order, the persons engaged on contractual basis as such shall not be assigned any administrative job and posts for the purposes of contractual appointment shall be deemed to have been created.
