Governor releases ‘The Rustic Ladakh, Kashmir, Jammu’, ‘River Devika’

JAMMU, Apr 24: Governor N.N. Vohra and Usha Vohra, First Lady, released a coffee table book “The Rustic Ladakh, Kashmir & Jammu” at the Raj Bhavan here today.
This attractively produced volume contains impressive photographs of various tourist destinations of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, taken by Mukesh Gupta, a professional photographer.
Governor and First Lady lauded the professionalism of Gupta and hoped that this coffee table book will help in promoting increasing tourist visitations to J&K which is a scenic as well as a religious destination. They wished Gupta high success in all his future endeavours. He was accompanied by his wife, who is a doctor.
Meanwhile, Governor released “River Devika”, written by Pt. Mool Raj Shastri, a respected Sanskrit scholar.
This bilingual volume has been written in the form of Sanskrit verses with their Hindi translations and traces the journey of river Devika from Gauri Kund in Udhampur to Samba district and describes the significance of important historical places located along the length of river Devika. Through this book the author has also emphasized the high importance of maintaining cleanliness in and alongside our rivers and water bodies.
Governor appreciated Pt. Shastri’s missionary fervour and urged him to continue his efforts for enriching the Sanskrit language.
Dr. Chander Mouli Raina, Member Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, was present on the occasion, among several other eminent persons.
