Srinagar, Sept 14: In a meeting held at the Raj Bhavan here today Governor N N Vohra held extensive discussions with Naeem Akhtar, Education Minister, regarding the urgency of reviving the educational system in the Kashmir Division.
Shaleen Kabra, Commi-ssioner School Education was present in the meeting.
Briefing the Governor about the issues involved in making educational institutions functional in the Kashmir valley, Akhtar agreed to take urgent initiatives for the schools to re-open.
A Raj Bhavan Spokesman recalled that the Governor had earlier also, on 31st August 2016, held a meeting with Naeem Akhtar in which all the Vice-Chancellors and others were also present, to discuss issues relating to re-opening schools, colleges and universities in the Valley.
The Spokesperson noted that the Governor has been expressing serious concern over the irreparable damage suffered by students at all levels, particularly school students, from the closure of the entire educational system due to prevailing unrest in the Kashmir Division and has been repeatedly stressing the need for all required initiatives being taken to enable the near 14 lakh school students in the Valley to resume their studies.
