Governor inaugurates 61st National School games in Jammu

JAMMU: Governor N N Vohra today inaugurated the 61st National School Games (2015-16), which is being organised by the Directorate General, Youth Services and Sports.

Welcoming the participants, the Governor said there is tremendous talent among the boys and girls of the State and hoped that, with the availability of improved facilities and increasing opportunities, they will excel in various sporting disciplines.

He said if their talents are nurtured and adequately groomed, many of them would make it to the national teams in a number of games in the future.

Referring to the 61st National School Games Cricket (U-17 Girls), the Governor said that the cricket lovers would get a very good opportunity to witness some excellent action.

The Governor congratulated the School Games Federation of India and the J&K Youth Services and Sports Department for organising the championship and hoped that this would further promote cricket, which is already a very popular sport in the State.

Twenty five teams with 500 participants from across India are taking part in the event.

The matches will be played at M A stadium, Jammu; University of Jammu; KC Public School, Jammu; and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. (AGENCIES)
