Governor hosts NCC Republic Day Contingent

JAMMU:  The J&K NCC Directorate Republic Day Contingent, comprising 109 NCC Cadets from all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir, met  GovernorN.N. Vohra and Mrs. Usha Vohra, the First Lady, at Rajbhavan here today. The NCC Contingent was led by Major General Nilendra Kumar, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate.

 The Cadets presented a colourful cultural programme which is planned to be a part of the presentations which this Contingent shall make at the National Republic Day Camp at New Delhi in January, 2018. Governor complimented Maj. Gen. Kumar and his officers on the high quality of the cultural items presented by the Cadets and wished the Contingent high success in the various competitions in which it would be participating at the forthcoming Republic Day Camp.

Governor observed that the maximum number of youth should be enabled to join the NCC as this would promote their capacity for living and working together and enriching their personalities with a clear vision of their role in carrying the country forward.

Governor expressed happiness that the size of this year’s Contingent is considerably larger than in the previous years and urged the J&K NCC Directorate to be proactive in securing a meaningful share in the projected all India expansion of NCC activities, keeping in view J&K’s diverse and difficult geography. He lauded Maj. Genl. Kumar on the performance report of J&K’s NCC cadets at various national level events and selection of a sizeable number of cadets to the Armed Forces Training Academies.

Wishing the NCC Contingent high success in their various competitions at the Republic Day Camp, the Governor said that he hoped that this group of cadets from all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir would bring laurels for the State.

On the occasion, Major General Kumar, presented the Welcome Address and highlighted the achievements of the cadets during the year 2017.
