Governor, CM for strengthening J&K’s glorious pluralistic ethos

SRINAGAR, July 12 : N N Vohra, Governor, has said that sustained peace and normalcy are essential pre-requisites for achieving progress and prosperity and called upon one and all to rededicate themselves to make Jammu and Kashmir a frontline State in the country.
In his message on the occasion of martyrs’ day, the Governor observed that Jammu and Kashmir has been known for its glorious pluralistic ethos, amity and brotherhood, and urged the people to work towards restoring the pristine glory of the State as an abode of peace and harmony.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah paid rich tributes to the martyrs of 13th July describing them heroes of the struggle against suppression and totalitarianism.
In a message on the eve of martyrs’ day, the Chief Minister said that the sacrifice of the martyrs to free the society from autocracy and lay edifice for democracy and human dignity is one of the richest chapters of the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The best way to pay homage to the martyrs is to help create equitable and palatable environment for everyone to grow and nurture in a democratic atmosphere. Let all of us join hands to develop a society based on justice and principals of secular democratic temperament”, he said, adding that tolerance and respect for each others’ viewpoints whether we agree to these or not is the soul of democracy. He said the martyrs of 13th July laid their lives to uphold this principal of natural justice and democracy.
Omar Abdullah prayed for peace and tranquillity in the State.
