Governor announces annual support of Rs 2 lakh to Samaj Kalyan Kendra

JAMMU, Feb 15 : N. N. Vohra, Governor, launched the All India Flag Week of the deaf by contributing Rs. 10,000 to the Flag Fund at a function held at Raj Bhavan, here today.
Interacting with a 15-member delegation comprising members of the Governing Body, Principal, Teachers and students of the J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Jammu, who called on him in connection with the launching of the All India Flag Week of the deaf, the Governor urged upon the affluent sections of the society and people at large for coming forward in a big way and contributing for the Fund for the welfare of the physically challenged children.
The Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, announced annual grant of Rs. 2 lakh for the next 3 years, from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, for the J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Jammu, for supporting its educational activities. He also emphasized the need for availing optimum benefit from the various Central Schemes for the welfare of the physically challenged.
The Governor asked Navin K. Choudhary, his Principal Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, who was present on the occasion, to arrange a visit of the children of the J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, along with their teachers, to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi on the Board’s expenses, immediately after their annual examinations are over.
Earlier, the children fixed a Flag on the coat of the Governor to mark the commencement of the All India Flag Week of the deaf.
Inderjeet Khajuria, President of the Kendra, presented a memorandum of demands to the Governor.
The Advisor to the Kendra, S. S. Wazir, its Senior Vice President, V. K. Bhagotra, General Secretary, J. K. Vaid, Principal of the School, Roshan Bhan and four teachers accompanied the students.
