Government school named after martyr

POONCH, Sept 27 : A government school in Mandi area of district Poonch has been named after martyr Police Sub Inspector’s name.
Wife of martyr Sub Inspector along with BDC Chairperson Mandi cut the ceremonial ribbon in an event organised for naming Government Girls Middle School Rajpura (Mandi) after her husband’s name falling under Education Zone Mandi, in Poonch district.
As per the order issued by the Government, Girls Middle School Rajpura in Education Zone Mandi will be now called as “Shaheed Jahangir Akhter Memorial, Government Girls Middle School Rajpura”, for which an event was organised by the Education department Mandi.
Zonel Education Officer, Station House Officer, elected representatives beside Family members of martyr and prominent people of the area were present on the occasion.
Family members of martyr said that Jahangir was appointed as Police Sub Inspector in 1990s and attained martyrdom in 2001 militants’ attack in Police Lines, Doda for which they always feels proud.
Speaking on the occasion, BDC Chairperson Mandi, Shamim Ganai, family members and other prominent people extended gratitude to Government for naming this school on martyr’s name.
