Got enough chances but haven’t maximised my potential: Ashmit

NEW DELHI : Ashmit Patel may have got ample chances in Bollywood to prove himself but the actor says he has never been able to take advantage of those opportunities.
The 38-year-old actor, who has completed more than a decade in the industry, believes there are still so many things that he has to learn to catch the eye of noted filmmakers.
“I’ve got many chances in the industry. In fact most people in my position don’t get the number of chances, I’ve got. But, I don’t think I’ve maximised my potential,” Ashmit told PTI.
“I’ve only one hit film to my credit, which is way back in 2004. But, sure I want to do more films in future.”
Ashmit says the day he would feel that he has learnt all about the craft that an artiste requires, big opportunity itself will come his way.
“Call it Karma or whatever that I’m still working in the industry. I do have a wish list of directors I would like to work with. But I believe that you get offers or choices of what you deserve.
“The day I deserve to do a film with Raj Kumar Hirani, he will come to me. That’s the way the universe works, which is my belief,” he said.
Ashmit is now looking forward to his upcoming film “Dongri Ka Raja”, which also stars Ronit Roy, Gashmeer Mahajani and Reecha Sinha.
He calls himself lucky to have worked with actor like Ronit, who has worked in films like, “Jaan Tere Naam”, “Udaan”, “Two States”, “Shootout at Wadala” and “Guddu Rangeela”.
“I’m blessed to have worked with Ronit. I wish I was in his position, not to take his position but, where I had a choice of saying no to filmmakers. But for that, may be I need to work harder.”
The “Murder” star hopes that the film does well as he is returning on the big screen almost after two years. His last was Salman Khan-starrer “Jai Ho”.
“I’m not having any sort of expectation as it always leads to disappointment. But, there is a hope that it does well for all of us, including me as it’s been a while since I’ve been on the screen. Also to able to get good work in future for myself, I want this film to work,” he said.
“Dongri Ka Raja” will hit theatres this Friday. (AGENCIES)
