Goswami reviews security, meets Vohra

Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami presiding over a high level security review meeting in Srinagar on Friday.

SRINAGAR, June 6: Union Home Secretary designate, Anil Goswami reviewed the security situation of the State in a high level meeting held here today.
Goswami who is on visit to Kashmir valley held a review meeting of security forces top brass to take stock of the security situation in the state and also discussed situation with Governor NN Vohra in a separate meeting at Raj Bhawan.
The security meeting which was held at the Nehru Guest House here this afternoon was also attended by senior officers of civil administration, police, army, central security forces and intelligence agencies.
Goswami was also accompanied by R K Srivastava, Joint Secretary Kashmir affairs in Union Home Ministry. The meeting was attended by Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Ashok Prasad, General Officer Commanding 15 Corps Lt Gen Om Prakash, Special DG CRPF, Joint Director IB, ADGP Armed, IGP Kashmir, IGP CID and IG BSF. The Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Srinagar also attended the meeting.
Police, army, CRPF and intelligence top brass apprised Goswami about the overall prevailing security scenario in the state. They also discussed the infiltration attempts being made by militants from across the Line of Control (LoC) with Goswami.
Goswami was  informed that large numbers of militants are waiting on the LoC and are ready to infiltrate. He was informed about the tightening of the security grid along the LoC in view of the repeated attempts by militants for infiltration.
He was also apprised of the recent attacks by militants in Kashmir valley and successes achieved by the security forces. He was also informed that the security forces are maintaining utmost retrain while dealing with the militancy so as to avoid collateral damage.
The security top brass also discussed  over all security situation and steps taken by the government to ensure peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir valley especially during tourist season and Amarnath Yatra. He was also briefed about the security arrangement made for Amarnath Yatra.
Earlier Goswami called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhavan. “During their an hour and a half meeting, the Governor and Goswami discussed various security scenario, existing and emerging issues relating to internal security management and various other matters relating to securing sustained peace and normalcy in the State”, an official spokesman said here.
The Governor also apprised him about the Amarnathji Yatra arrangements and problems faced by the traders in cross-LoC trade also came up for discussion during the meeting.
