KATHUA, Feb 19:   Additional general secretary of National Conference Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal  today said that only good relations of India with Pakistan is the solution to peace on the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control.
Addressing a gathering of locals at Nadwar Andar in Madeen tehsil of Kathua district today, Dr Kamaal said that with the ceasefire violations the  tension along with border has escalated. The people of the border belt are the worst sufferers. He said only good relations  between the two countries can improve the situation along border.
Dr Kamaal extended gratitude to the people for giving him an opportunity to visit their area. The speakers lamented that Government has done little for them in nearly four years they have been in power. The Kacha link road is in shambles, power supply is erratic , tube wells and hand pumps are but a few show pieces, school is far away, they do not have reservation in education and jobs, they are put to inconvenience  and harassment by the authorities during their annual migration; none has visited them for assessing damage due to border firing. They also rued that mobile schools created by NC regime have been given a quiet burial by the Govt and that many families are till date without ration cards.
The NC leader assured the gathering that NC is committed  to the welfare of this community of Bakerwals.  He said much of the progress and prosperity we see today in this erstwhile neglected community is due to this historic and revolutionary step and along with the District Development Boards also constituted in the same period saw J&K as a whole free from the throes of neglect and oppression as a result of gross misrule of puppet Govts from 1953 to 1975  with ST/SC and OBC suffering the most . The PDP-BJP alliance has all but abandoned these very important institutions by centralizing all authority and  ”making hay while the sun shines” as the adage goes.
Rattan Lal Gupta asked the audience to continue their support and commitment to the NC which has been in the forefront of their struggle for their rights since over seven decades. Ushering democracy in 1947-48 National Conference assured that fruits of freedom and democracy reach to all sections of the society in just and fair manner from the highest to the lowest.
He was accompanied by  Abdul Gani Teli,  Pardeep Bali  and Mohd Farooq Mughal.
