Finally the dates for parliamentary elections have been announced to take place in so many phases to cover all the 543 seats. The sitting members, as well as, new aspirants are spending sleepless nights to get tickets for themselves. They have begun to woo the voters through electronic media, holding meetings and also through personal contacts promising them and showing them green pastures althrough in practice the picture is quite opposite. What a big democratic nation! After all why the nation was doubtful about the democratic status of our nation. Is it because the democracy had been hijacked by few political identities who have manipulated the definition of liberty, equality and secularism just to suit their own ends.
The vote bank politics has been drafted in such a way that the common Indian masses lose common sense when it comes to elections. But times have changed altogether. The voter has become conscious but on the whole the electorate is in dilemma as he does not know whom to trust. The voter has been duped by all political parties. Now, it is turn of the voters to elect these candidates who in turn can redress the grievances of people.
