Good governance concept incomplete without popular Govt: Yaseen

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Jan 23: Maintaining that the  concept of good governance is incomplete in absence of a popular Government, chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF)  Hakeem Yaseen has vociferously called for holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, without further delay.
He said before boosting of District Good Governance Index (DGGI) and development for J&K, the Government should restore fundamental and constitutional rights of the people and ensure freedom of press and expression.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Hakeem Yaseen while  reacting to  releasing of District Good Governance Index (DGGI) for J&K, said that the tall  claims of good governance and development in J&K , were in sharp contrast to the ground  realities . He said the plathora of  problems confronting  the people and  the ground realities  about  dilapidated roads, erratic power supply, non availability of drinking water  coupled with burgeoning unemployment and prevailing  socio-political uncertainty, due to administrative apathy, were the benchmark of present dispensation.
Yaseen has also pooh-poohed the normalcy remark for return of statehood to J&K adding that this was in quite contrast to the claim of the Government that situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved during recent years.  He said the remark about return of normalcy for restoration of statehood was  Government’s candid admission that situation still isn’t normal in J&K. ”
Actually the condition of return of normalcy for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir was bieng used as an excuse to continue the present spell of Central rule in Jammu and Kashmir and denial to the  democratic rights of the people .
PDF Chairman said, infact, releasing development  indexes was  intended   to hoodwink world opinion about the prevailing grim situation in Jammu and Kashmir and  to justify it’s arbitrary actions to usurp the constitutional rights and  gaurantees of the people adding that claims of good governance and development in J&K were  far from ground realities.
“Restoration of popular Government in Jammu and Kashmir was the only way forward to bring a change in the prevailing grim socio-political scenario in the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state ,” Yaseen maintained.
