RAJOURI, Oct 5: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Tribal Welfare Society organised an impressive literary meet at Gujjar Hostel, here today.
Vice chairman, Pahari Advisory Board for the Development of Pahari Speaking People , Kuldeep Raj Gupta, was the chief guest on the occasion while Fazal Hussain Rana, an international renowned Gojri writer from Pakistan popularly known as ‘Babay Gojri ‘ was the guest of honor.
Galaxy of prominent and eminent literary persons of the area participated in the historic literary meet.
Kuldeep Raj Gupta in his address said that Gojri and Pahari are the melodious dialects of Peer Panchal Region. He said that Government will put all efforts for the promotion of Gojri and Pahari culture that is an asset of this region. He stressed upon the writer community to work for promotion of centuries old Gujjar and Pahari culture and languages.
Addressing the gathering, Fazal Hussain Rana expressed his deep gratitude and love for the people for felicitating and honouring him in such an impressive programme . Rana recalled the days of his childhood and youth that he spent here before going to Pakistan. He also shared his struggle for the upliftment of the Gojri dialect.
Those who presented and read out literary papers include Dr.Sabar Mirza, Prof. MK Waqar, Nazir Hussain Qureshi, Nisar Rahi, Fida Rajourvi, Dr.Liaqat Mir, Mohd Azam, Pervaiz Malik, Mir Qasim, Gulam Aatish, Mian Gulzar, Riaz Rana and Gulam Haider.
Those prominent who spoke includes former MP Mirza Rashid, Nisar Rahi, Ex MLC Choudhary Gulzar and Youth activist Vikrant Sharma.
The proceedings of the programme was led by Dr. Alamdar Adam, Cultural officer, Rajouri and Dr.M.K Waqar.
The meet ended with vote of thanks by Mohd.Azam, Warden Gujjar Hostel Rajouri.
