GOC visits Pallanwalla sector, reviews security situation

JAMMU, Jan 9: General Officer Commanding (GOC) Nagrota-based 16 Corps Lt Gen Sandeep Jain today visited forward areas in Pallanwalla sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor area of this district and reviewed prevailing situation and operational preparedness of the troops.
Lt Gen Jain visited several forward areas in Pallanwalla sector on the LoC falling under the jurisdiction of Crossed Swords Division and interacted with Commanders and jawans deployed on duty.
The field commanders gave him detailed briefing on the situation in Pallanwalla sector.
It may be mentioned here that situation is by and large peaceful in Pallanwalla sector with no major ceasefire violations reported in recent past. However, the troops have been maintaining high alert to ensure zero infiltration in the area.
A tweet by the Army said the General Officer Commanding reviewed operational preparedness and security situation in the areas. He complimented all ranks for maintaining high standards of operational preparedness and security along the Line of Control and hinterland.
The GOC has been visiting several forward areas on the LoC falling under 16 Corps.
Troops have been maintaining high alert along the LoC in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri and have already foiled two major infiltration bids in Krishna Ghati and Balakote sectors of Poonch.
In one of the intrusion bids in Balakote yesterday, two militants were killed and a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from their possession.
Anticipating more infiltration attempts on the LoC, Army has already stepped up patrolling and strengthened Security Grid to ensure that the militants don’t manage to enter into this side to create trouble before Republic Day celebrations.
