GOC 15 Corps, former JK Bank Chairman, social activist call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Lt. Gen. S.K. Dua, GOC 15 Corps, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today and briefed him about the security situation in the Valley in the wake of the terror attacks at Uri, Baramulla and Langate.
Mushtaq Ahmad, former Chairman of J&K Bank also called on Governor.
The Governor and Ahmad discussed various major challenges faced and the lessons to be learnt from the bank’s operations in the recent years with the objective of playing a growingly larger role in speeding up the growth and development of the State and also providing targeted support to identified segments of the economy, particularly the craftsmen, weavers and artisans, horticulturists and entrepreneurs.
Ahmad completed his term as Chairman J&K Bank yesterday. The Governor wished him good health and happiness in all his future endeavours.
Meanwhile, Shamima Raina, Senior Vice-President, J&K Mahila Congress and a social activist also called on Governor.
Raina apprised the Governor about the hardships being faced by the people due to prevailing unrest and how the aspirations of the Kashmir youth required to be dealt with.
Stressing the crucial importance of peace being urgently restored in the State, the Governor urged Raina to continue with her endeavours in this regard.
