JAMMU, Jan 8: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, who represents Gandhi Nagar constituency in the State Assembly, stressed upon the Jammu & Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation, to go for massive awareness about various welfare schemes run by the Corporation in J&K for the socio-economic upliftment of the weaker sections of the society.
Kavinder Gupta put forth this suggestion when he was apprised of the schemes of the Corporation by Vice Chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, during their meeting at Jammu, wherein he was told that six Apex Corporations at the national level provide funds for financial assistance to unemployed males and females belonging to SC, ST, BC, categories, physically disabled persons, national level notified minorities and Safai Karamcharis, to enable them to establish their own earning units. The Corporation also provides “education loan” to the meritorious students of poor families of reserved categories to pursue their professional and technical courses after completing 10+2, Balbir further told.
Kavinder Gupta, during this meeting, said that it is indeed a noble service to the people, who are not financially well off and cannot afford to help their children to set up livelihood earning units or send them for higher studies. He told the VC that his constituency houses large population of the families from weaker sections and the Corporation should identify the deserving people and help them to stand on own. He further stressed for wider publicity of the welfare schemes meant for the members of the reserved categories.
The Vice Chairperson assured Kavinder Gupta that the Corporation will plan awareness camps in Gandhi Nagar constituency for the benefit of the unemployed people of the reserved categories.
