GMC Srinagar makes steep hike in fee for PG, UG courses; PG Diploma

SRINAGAR, Aug 22: The Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar has once again issued a revised fee structure for the under-graduation & post-graduation courses being offered at the institution while the same is a considerable increase in comparison to the existing fee structure.
As per the new fee structure, the students of MBBS Phase-I will have to pay over Rs 34000/-, which is a 30 percent increase in the existing fee. The existing fee was Rs 26250/- before a 10 percent increase in February this year. After the increase, the students had to pay Rs 28000/- for the MBBS Phase-I.
Similarly, for the MBBS Phase-II, the students will now have to pay Rs 11763/- which is again a 25 percent increase in the existing fee. The existing fee for Phase-II was Rs 9300/- before the 10% increase which then became Rs 10312/- after the increase in February.
The latest changes in the fee structure have been made in supersession to all the orders, while the new change in the fee structure, which will be applicable for the academic session 2021-22, is the second in just one year.
For the MBBS Phase-III Part-I, the students will now have to pay Rs 8335/-, which is over a 33 percent increase from the existing fee. The existing fee for the same was Rs 6250/- before the increase of 10% which then became Rs 6875/-.
In the same way, as per the new fee structure, for the MBBS Phase-III Part-II, the students will now have to pay Rs 8350/- which earlier was 6250 before the 10% increase and then became Rs 6875/-. The hike again is over 33 percent of the existing fee.
The B.Sc. Paramedical students will now have to pay Rs 25000/- in the first year, Rs 20000/- in the second year, and Rs 15000/- in the third year, taking the total expenses to Rs 60000/-.
Further, for MD/MS, the students will now have to pay Rs 32500/- while the same was Rs 25000/- before the 10% and the same then became 27500/-. The MD/MS programs have also witnessed an increase of 30 percent in the existing fee.
For the PG diploma, the students will now have to pay Rs 25625/- while the same was Rs 18750/- before the 10% increase, and then the same became Rs 20625/- after the due hike. The new fee for the PG diploma is over a 36 percent increase from the existing fee.
Concerning the students pursuing M Phill in Clinical Psychology, the students in the first year will have to pay Rs 44500/-, Rs 15000/- in the second year, and those pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical biochemistry will have to pay Rs 39,650/-.
